Description: From the SHSI Press Release:
The deadline for submitting applications to the State Historical Society of Iowa's Historical Resource Development Program (HRDP) is May 15, 2008.
HRDP applications must be received by 4:30 p.m., May 15, 2008 in the SHSI offices at 600 E. Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50319. More information is available at www.iowahistory.org or by calling 515-281-4228.

REAP/HRDP provides grants to preserve, conserve, interpret and educate the public about historical resources in categories related to historic preservation of the built environment, museum collections and documentary materials such as diaries, letters, photographs and newspapers.
Projects funded in this grant cycle will begin July 1, 2008 and must be completed by Oct. 31, 2010. Projects are evaluated based on the significance of the historical resource; the proposed scope of work; the project's impact on the local community; and the degree to which the budget is reasonable, appropriate to the project, complete and mathematically correct.
Last year, the State Historical Society of Iowa awarded $504,895 in REAP/HRDP grants to 30 organizations across the state for historic preservation, museum and documentary collections projects.

Website: http://www.preservationnation.org/
Description: The Midwest Office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation is now accepting grant applications from Iowa for grants from their endowed Preservation Fund.
The Dr. Frank Henry Landes Preservation Fund for Iowa was made possible by a generous grant to the National Trust for Historic Preservation from Dr. Helen L. Luyben in honor of her family's Iowa roots. The goal of the Fund is to provide grants to organizations across the state of Iowa, with a preference for those located in Mt. Ayr, to enable preservation of historic sites, buildings, structures and districts in jeopardy and empower local communities to plan and utilize their historic resources.
The Landes Preservation Fund offers financial assistance in the planning stages of preservation projects, providing small "seed grants" that serve as a catalyst to move a project forward. With awards typically ranging from $1,000-$3,000, grants assist non-profit organizations and local governments with the costs of obtaining professional consultants or providing support for preservation-based education activities.
If you are thinking of applying and have not previously discussed your project with the Midwest Office or if you need an application form, please contact Jennifer Sandy at jennifer_sandy@nthp.org or 312-939-5547 x37225. Download the grant alert.
